DEFENDER ULTRA + HARNESS PROJECT
The Defender Ultra+ was designed as part of a new harness platform for Guardian, using direct feedback from workers to identify opportunities around fit, mobility, comfort, and everyday use at height. The project required rethinking the harness architecture while working within the safety, performance, and compliance requirements of fall protection equipment.
Development focused on how the harness moves and interacts with the user. The 36O-Ring™ chassis was developed to improve mobility, while DiaLock™ torso adjusters provide more precise adjustment. Padding, hardware placement, and component integration were refined through development and testing to improve comfort without adding unnecessary bulk.
Additional features were integrated around how the harness is actually used and maintained in the field. FlexArmor™ helps manage contact from connected SRLs, red-core webbing provides a visual indication of wear, and Twiceme® NFC technology supports digital inspection and asset management. Connector management, accessory attachment, airflow, and high-wear areas were considered as part of the overall product architecture rather than added as secondary features.
